Training and Resources in Research Ethics Evaluation
This interactive, on-line training resource provides free research ethics training with a specific focus on the capacity building needs of African countries. The training material is designed for researchers, research committee members and students involved with research with humans. The seven training modules cover various ethical dilemmas, including general topics such as ethical principles and informed consent as well as specific issues such as research with adolescents, HIV Vaccine Trials and Public Health Ethics. The website also provides a range of international and national policy and regulatory resources and contributions from national experts from a number of countries (including South Africa) about ethical approval regulations in their respective countries. The focus is on health research but much of the information is of broad relevance. The training modules include an assessment.
